It's been a few weeks and we've got some personality updates for everyone!
As with all litters that are born off grounds we feel that it's imperative that we allow the sims housing the dam and pups to assess how much we can get in their faces for updates. Gemma has been... well she's been very much herself and has been uninterested in allowing too many people outside of her owner anywhere near her or the pups until weaning was started after she recovered from the birth.
Unfortunately for new owners (and us!) that meant far fewer photo updates. But! We've kept in constant contact with Sera (helps that our herds are integrated with each other) and getting our own chances to spend a bit of time with the brood in the last few weeks in small increments and get a peek at the interesting personalities emerging.
Puppies are all named after some of our favourite coffee beans, roasts, and shops here in Ireland!
First up is Orange Collar, known as Simbi.
First born, Simbi is one of two dark sable pups, he's strong willed and incredibly apt to get into mischief! Absolutely turning out to be our big problem child when it comes to weaning, a bit of a bully with his siblings, and has a strong drive that can edge into a fixation. Which.. doesn't sound like a glowing recommendation but frankly they're all traits we're happy to see!
By all accounts he's much like Gemma was as a puppy and we have no doubt that all that boundry pushing and stubborness will translate into a hearty drive once we've got something to really channel that focus into.
Next is Green Collar, known as Ponaire.
Second born and our first solid black with a bit of a white chest blaze, Ponaire is the calmest out of this bunch, a charming lad with a strong desire to be near sims and other animals that seems to be rivaled by his desire to get out and explore all that's offered.
This kiddo is our big cuddle bug, happy to flop over for some belly scratches, and very much expecting to get some attention if anyone happens to glance in his direction. He can almost always be found happily letting Gem trailing him as he explores new areas or tussling with his siblings.
Then we've got Red Collar, known as Ariosa.
Third born and our second solid black, Ariosa is our cunning trickster. While not nearly as headstrong as her siblings, who tend towards brute force to get their way, Ariosa is quick to put her sharp intelligence to work instead.
She was the first of the bunch to be fully weaned, and is very biddable thanks to it, as well as being one of the first to really start exploring away from mum. She's such a clever girl, already showing a sharp nose and practical mind that we've loved watching at work.
And we've got Blue Collar, known as Badger.
Fourth born and a pretty dark sable that comes the closest to her sires, Badger has a sharp mind and... well a strong will that tends to lead to trouble.
Even as young as she is we're seeing some lovely drive starting to emerge, even if it tends to result in shenanigans with her best bud Dono, she's very much the leader of the litter - only allowing Simbi so much leeway before she's quick to correct him and almost always the first in the charge when it comes to trouble.
We are absolutely thrilled with what we're seeing from her even at such a young age, seeing her and Dono work together once their older is almost enough to convince us to keep both of them, but even so we're so excited to see what she where she ends up.
Lastly we've got Teal Collar, known as Dono.
Last born and very much a surprise on our end, we've got our only bicolour puppy Dono. Much like her partner in crime, Badger, she's got a sharp intelligence about her that more often than not results in some form of mischief occuring.
She's already showing some natural herding instincts and a strong head that doesn't allow either Badger or Simbi to boss her around too much, an independent thinker that also seems to know when it's best to defer. We're so excited to see how she works with the livestock!
Both Badger and Dono have best exemplified what we were hoping for with this pairing and have both been deemed Pick of Litter.
