Imports & Rehoming Part 2

Writer's picture: Blue RiversBlue Rivers

It's time again for another Import and Rescue update!

All these rescues have been claimed! CAS images with mild edits excluding fur details and reshade is active. Reshade free shots will be sent before the dogs are sent out!

ooc: I had meant to get these out (6 nov for the states) but am having a couple issues with my game which is making the last test of the import poses impossible. If I can't get them finished tested by the 7th I'll go ahead and just send the dogs out and send the poses along later! apologies for the wait.

First up we've got 'Lio', a year old male, Whright line patchwork Catahoula.

We've had Lio with us for the last 4 months and it's been... well it's been something alright.

He definitely likes to test boundaries and will push if he doesn’t feel like whomever is working with him is solid enough to do so. He’s got the beginnings of some decent guard dog instincts, a well rounded drive, but manages to also be gentle and calm around young puppies and children; Lio very much has an off-switch and knows when to engage and when to back off.

A bit of an escape artist for sure, we’ve caught him romping around in the pigs pen on more than one occasion when everyone was sure that they’d locked the kennel gate.

This boy does not enjoy being locked up, he’ll deal with short bursts as long as he gets some exercise immediately afterwards, but leave it too long and if he can’t figure out the latch (he’ll probably figure out the latch) he can start to get destructive.

Next we've got 'Ona', a year old, German working line light sable female.

This girl has been an absolute joy to work with, problems included, it's not often that we have GSD's on grounds outside of herding work.

She's a hard-working gal that’s had a bit of a rocky start to life, coming to us from a first time breeder who had finally managed to get her returned after a rough 6 months of chasing around owners who were not nearly as prepared to handle the high drive of a working line as they thought they were.

Ona was a bit of a nervous wreck by the time she got to us, leash and fear ractive, snippy with the one showline GSD that works on the property from time to time, and constantly making a break for any and every door that opened near her.

Thanks to the good work of the breeder, who did a solid few months of trying to get the poor girl back on track, and our fantastic behaviourist Percy, she's doing very well! We've not seen any resource guarding in quite awhile, she's a big fan of other dogs now that she realises they'll respect her space, and we've had some fantastic progress with her reactivity when leashed. Her breeder was out at the property recently to sign off on the rehoming and was amazed at the confident pup we're starting to see.

Both the breeder and our behaviourist are optimistic that she’ll continue to overcome her current issues, but it will take work.

And last but certainly not least we've got 'Vol', a 6 month old, 70/30 Euro x American cross Blue Great Dane.

Vol was bred specifically for service work but it turns out that he much prefers having another dog companion around and as such didn’t quite work out for his intended home.

He’s got a solid baseline and is a trainable pup who we very much expect to take to service work wonderfully and be a lovely companion pet. He's calm and biddable, with a moderate drive, and boundless aim to please.

Vol's got a wonderful off switch, especially considering that he's still very much got puppy brain, but has the energy to be a fantastic hiking companion and the bulk to do some mobility work if needed once he's fully matured.

Such a happy, good-natured dog that's just as pleased to be romping around with a friend as calmly tasking or alerting if needed.
